Preparing for your Baby Session

Thank you for booking your baby session with Becky Fleury Photography.  I have over ten year’s experience photographing babies and will do my best to exceed your expectations as I capture this special moment in time.

Allow about 1.5 hours for your photo shoot, and try not to schedule anything for immediately afterwards as baby will need a break or a nap! We will ultimately work around baby's mood and let them tell us when they've had enough!

You and I will have, or may have already had a pre-planning session to go over everything and talk theme, colour, outfits/looks.

I would suggest packing yourself a little bag with a few outfits. Below's notes may trigger some things to pack along!

Props:

•    I have some outfits, props and backdrops that I will have available for your session. I will review the plan for the session before we begin to ensure you are happy with my choices! If there is something in particular you have seen in my portfolio that you would like for your session, please let me know prior to the session.

•    If there is something sentimental you want included in some photos, please bring it along and we will incorporate it into the photos. Please let me know prior to the session if you will bring anything so that I can prepare backdrops or any other props prior to your arrival to complete the look for your special prop.

•   If we are doing a cake smash, due to allergies and food prep laws, it is the responsibility of the families to supply the cake.

Set Ups & Colours:

•    I will provide a variety (at least three), different set ups for your session to ensure you have variety in your gallery. This may includes, family photos, different outfits for baby, a cake smash and a bubblebath!

•    I like to stick with a colour theme for your images so that you will have harmony with your gallery for wall collages or photo books. Let’s discuss your colour theme!

•    If you choose to do a cake smash, I will plan the theme with you and supply all props (excluding the cake).

•    Please let me kmow if there are particular set ups you would like for your session.

Tips for preparing family:

•    Wear outfits that will harmonize with your baby’s outfit.

•    Don’t be afraid to mix and split up colours on bottoms, shoes, and the accessories. You don’t want the same color all on top. Also, you want to split up colors according to pairs. Natural pairs are: mom and dad, mom and baby, brothers, and sisters. You don’t want to be too matchy with your pair or you will blend in together.

•    Decide how you want to use your images. Take a look at your home’s colours. You will most likely be placing your images around your house or baby’s room and want it to look like artwork. If your room is pretty neutral, some may want pops of color so their images stand out. Others may want pure, natural images to blend in with their décor. Be sure to bring a few different outfits for your baby. This will ensure variety in your session and allow us to play with different looks, backgrounds and props.

•    Light jeans or khakis photograph nicely.

Moms:

•    Take the time to do your hair and make-up just right. I would suggest doing it very soft and romantic so that you look natural. Loose curls photograph beautifully and much nicer that straight, pulled-back, smooth styles. But most importantly, make yourself feel beautiful! Even if you don’t normally wear makeup, it’s a good idea to use powder to control shine, mascara to bring out your eyes, and something to add a bit of color to your lips.

•    If you would like to try something more glamourous for baby & me shots, let me know!   If you

Siblings:

•    White, beige, light grey or pastels (matching baby’s gender). Also, light jeans or khakis photograph nicely.

Please Avoid: patterns of any kind, bright colours, logos or prints

Lets Have fun!

All in all, we want to make the session as fun a possible for your baby. Please bring along any special toys, noisemakers or snacks that your baby loves. Together we will laugh, sing songs, make silly faces, …do whatever it takes to make your photos be full of happy smiles and adorable expressions!
